About Us
Prior to September 1999, we (Rhonda Hendry O'Hearn and Bob O'Hearn) lived in Beverly, Massachusetts with two
Siberians (Mischa and Osage). Our winters back then were devoted entirely to downhill skiing.
If it wasn't for the friends we met through the YSHC
that got us hooked on mushing, we might still be living in Massachusetts, paying for the Big
Dig, Fenway Park and hanging out at a Vermont mountain side pub. So, due to our love of dog sledding and
the bug of wanting to raise and manage our own kennel, we
decided to move to New Hampshire. Although we cherish the time
spent running and training the Tay-Marr second string, NOTHING
beats having them at your own house! :)
Since developing our own breeding program, we have been
blessed with many newly formed relationships along the way who
have helped coach, educate and mentor us.
For many years we were quite successful racing in 30 mile events. Our vision now, is to compete in the 60-250 mile discipline. Our first attempt at a race of 250 miles in length was in 2006. A tough challenge given that we do not live or own a camp directly on a trail system or have work schedules providing the flexibility necessary to spend significant time on the trail.
To close out the 2006 season, we gave a series of dry land rig rides. This was a great way to promote the sport of mushing. Plus, it provides an outlet for our older and non competitive athletes. Depending on our schedule, we are available to give presentations to small school groups, 4H and other such organizations.
As members of the SHCA, we are committed to the
working/racing qualitites of this breed. Although the Siberian is
known for excelling in obedience, conformation and in harness, it
is the latter that we have chosen to focus on. When time allows, Rhonda enjoys hiking with the dogs and dabbling in agility.
If you are looking
for a mid-distance proven, Siberian Husky with a slight
emphasis on the AKC registered Markovo/Sepp-Alta strains, you've come to the right place. Our program is presently a blend of the following bloodlines (Kodiak, Markovo, Sepp-Alta, L'Epiphanie, Anadyr and Northome).
Should our dogs not meet the qualifications you are looking for,
or we do not have anything currently available, we would be happy
to refer you to one of the many other breeders we know.
